Continuing Medical Education for Ultrasound Techs
Earning continuing medical education credits is important in keeping a sonographer’s knowledge and skills up-to-date. The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) requires all certified sonographers to earn 30 CME credits in a span of three years to maintain the validity of their credentials. Depending on the sonographers credentials, the CME requirements may vary.
· RDMS and/or RDCS and/or RVT – 30 CME credits
· RPVI + RDMS and/or RDCS and/or RVT – 30 CME credits for vascular sonography
· RMSK + RDMS and/or RDCS and/or RVT – 30 CME credits for musculoskeletal sonography
· RPVI + RMSK – 30 CME credits for vascular sonography AND 30 CME credits for musculoskeletal sonography
· RPVI + RMSK + RDMS and/or RDCS and/or RVT – 30 CME credits for vascular sonography AND 30 CME credits for musculoskeletal sonography

The Philips learning center educates diagnostic medical sonographers, offering in-house and online training to ultrasound techs who need it. Currently, there are six courses available at the Philips learning center, all costing between $10 and $30:
1. (OB) Placental and Cervical Assessment during Pregnancy
2. (OB) Third Trimester Scanning
3. Radiation Protection
4. Patient Transfer and Transport
5. Fall Prevention
6. Infection Control
