What do sonographers do
Sonographers members of the healthcare team who perform a diagnostic procedure called sonography. Unlike other procedures that use radiography, sonography uses sound waves which are perfectly safe for fetuses and patients with weak immune systems. The waves are sent through the body which bounce off of solid structures like organs and bone, and return to the machine, creating an image of what’s inside an area of the body without resorting to invasive procedures.

There were slightly less employed sonographers in 2013, with a total of 57,700 employed in the US. These sonographers were employed in a variety of areas such as hospitals, outpatient centers, and diagnostic laboratories. Projections for the next ten years
The research from the BLS reports that there is a projected increase of 46 percent for employment between 2012 and 2022. Numerically, that is an increase of 27,000 jobs in a ten-year span. This growth rate is faster than the nationwide average rate of 11 percent. From employment levels of 58,800 in 2012, the value is expected to increase to 85,900 by 2022. With these projections, it is expected that employment and wages in the sonographer career will continue to get better in 2014.
